Dawn Bijou Janes-Bartley
I love insurance. I can’t really explain it. I am deeply passionate about working with our clients to help them protect what they find valuable or important. I have earned my Certified Risk Management (CRM) designation, my Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation, and I also hold a Surplus Lines License. This special license and these credentials help me create insurance and non-insurance solutions for clients and brings much more value to your risk protection program. Yes, I really am an insurance nerd. And when it comes to something as important as understanding your insurance policy, you do want an insurance nerd like me on your team.
Buying insurance involves entering into a legal contract with an insurance company. When you pay your premiums, you expect certain claims to be covered, but what the policy says can contradict what you assume might happen. Insurance policies are complex, which is why most of you reading this have likely not read one cover to cover. I enjoy working through policy language to help each client better understand the coverage they have, and the coverage they don’t. It is important to me that I understand what you want your insurance policy to do so I can provide the solutions to meet those needs.
I was born and raised in Plymouth, Minnesota, attended school in Wayzata and college at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Child Psychology, with a Certificate in Chemical Dependency Counseling and Sign Language. My husband Chad and I live in Minnetrista and enjoy seeing horses on our block and cows across the street.
We have four kids ages 6-16 that keep us young; Alex, Kyle, Anna and Kali. We are active in their activities; soccer, gymnastics, music, art, theatre, scouting and church. I spent several years as a co-den leader with our Cub Scout Pack 297, and volunteer often for kids’ school functions, church events and Girl Scout activities. We added a Cockapoo named Bella into our family in April of 2019. I also provide guardian and conservatorship care for my mother who is living with Dementia in an assisted living facility. This experience has made me a strong advocate of Long-Term Care Insurance solutions.
I have been in the insurance industry since 2006. My career brought me to Minnesota Insurance Group in January of 2016. I am passionate about working on the independent side of the insurance industry. I feel I can truly help people by finding the exact insurance to meet their needs, and the education they need to understand their insurance. My favorite part of my job is helping people!
I am constantly challenged and strive to bring the most current and relevant insurance knowledge to each client. I have earned my Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation, which further helps me be a better advisor, resource and advocate to our clients.
In my spare time, I love to read and spend time outdoors, however, my main focus outside of work is my family and friends. I live in Belle Plaine, MN with my husband Dylan, our son James, and our rescue dog Mick, a Lab and Springer mix.
Don’t limit your challenges. Challenge your limits. – Jerry Dunn
I began my career in the insurance industry in August of 2018 here at Minnesota Insurance Group with an extensive background in customer-facing positions in the hospitality, restaurant, medical and retail industries. While insurance was never something I pictured myself doing, I’ve really found joy and personal satisfaction in working with clients to find great solutions to protect what matters most to them. In the commercial lines department, I am greeted with new challenges every day, and work hard to find options that meet each client’s individual needs and expectations. I strive to earn each relationship, and to provide a partnership with each client, whether they are new to the agency or have been with us for years.
I am actively working on earning my Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation to be a better resource and advocate for our clients. I enjoy expanding and deepening my understanding of this industry, and how to best serve our clients and meet their needs.
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy watching hockey, baseball, and football with family and friends. I also enjoy hunting, fishing, and spending time outside (as long as it’s not too cold). I have found that cooking and chores are much more fun with my son, who is now 5 and starting kindergarten in the fall of 2021. My husband, son, and I live in the southwest metro and have two German Shorthair Pointers and one cat.
I joined Minnesota Insurance Group in August of 2017 after completing my Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and International Business along with a Professional Selling Specialization.
What I love about my position is having the ability to constantly learn about current and upcoming trends in the marketing industry.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time on the lake, watching the Minnesota Wild and Vikings, discovering new breweries and restaurants, volunteering at Gilda’s Clubhouse, and traveling to different countries. I currently live in NE Minneapolis.
Born and raised in the Minneapolis Metro area, I have been in the industry for over forty years. I started my career as a Customer Service Rep and grew to love helping my clients. Eventually, I attained my license in order to best help my clients make the important decisions when purchasing insurance. I have been with Minnesota Insurance Group since 2002.
In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, golfing and traveling with my husband Dennis. My two grown sons and grandson also live locally. I give back to the community through my church by volunteering and teaching Sunday school. My family has been active in the lives of another family from Nairobi, Kenya since 2003.
I was born in Duluth, Minnesota, but have lived all over the U.S. I joined the U.S. Air Force out of High School, where I worked on aircraft. I was fortunate to be stationed in the Philippines and North Carolina. I like to travel and meet people of other cultures and experience new foods.
I have been with Minnesota Insurance Group since 2020. I started as a customer and decided to make a change and try something new. I enjoy helping people and find there is a lot of variety every day, which makes it interesting.
In my spare time I like sewing, gardening, kayaking, fishing and spending time at the lake camping with family and friends. My husband Ron and I live in Brooklyn Park, we have 2 grown daughters and 5 grandchildren who keep us active. We are also active in church, where we started out in children and teen ministry and transitioned into hospitality.
I have been married to my wife Kathy for 38 years. We have two kids, Daniel and Nikki. We just moved to St. Michael after moving from our home in Plymouth. We enjoy traveling to Florida and Arizona. We plan to spend our winters in one of these warm weather spots once we retire. We also spend a lot of time at our lake home in the summer months as well.
I have worked in the insurance industry for 38 years. My background includes working with both direct writers and independent agencies. I have always worked on the Commercial side of the business.
My biggest reward is having the opportunity to speak with business owners and learning as much as I can about their operations. This allows me to put together the proper insurance program to protect the assets of the business. I have always felt it was my job to help the business owner have one less thing to worry about. If I can do this, I feel I have done my job well.
I started my insurance career as a customer service assistant in February of 2020 and I work remotely from the local Wayzata office. After I completed my training, I joined Minnesota Insurance Group and has been working alongside Dawn and Peg, helping take care of the agency’s personal insurance clients.
I very much enjoy learning everything I can about the insurance industry and am motivated to continue to develop ways to better serve the clients of Minnesota Insurance Group.
Outside work, I am a fur mom of 2 dogs that I have been raising for 6 years and I also enjoy playing online games.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and for the past few years I have worked as a Data Analyst and Customer Service in the technology industry. In 2019 I transitioned to the insurance industry and have been working as a customer service assistant
Since then. I joined Minnesota Insurance Group in early 2021 and have really enjoyed the continuous learning opportunities in the commercial side of insurance. I see myself as relentless problem-solver and am always looking for a new challenge.
I’ve been interested in building gaming computers and traveling with my wife Razel and our son Ezekiel. I take a lot of pride in caring for my family and believe my ability to plan, schedule, and handle many different tasks helps me in taking care of my family.
