Rental Reimbursement: Provides for a specified amount per day to rent a car while repairs are being made to your auto that was damaged due to a covered loss. Guaranteed Dwelling Replacement Cost: This provides for the guaranteed replacement of your home including costs above the amount your dwelling is actually insured for at the time of the loss. Your home must be insured to its estimated replacement value and you must report additions or renovations that increase the value of your home. True guaranteed replacement cost indicates that the company will replace your home without regard to the insured value. Some companies offer a dwelling replacement coverage that extends the amount available, but will limit that amount to between 120 and 150 percent of the insured value of your home. Personal Property Replacement Cost: Provides for an amount of money for personal property that is intended to pay you at today's costs to repair or replace your damaged property. With replacement cost, if your couch were stolen, you would be reimbursed so that you were able to buy a comparable new couch. Without replacement cost (also called actual cash value), you would be only reimbursed what your couch was actually worth, such as in a garage sale. Sewer and Drain Back Up Coverage: Provides for a specified amount of coverage for a loss that is caused by the back up of sewer or water through drains. This type of loss may be caused when a power failure stops a sump pump from running or if a sewer line were to become blocked or collapsed. Without this endorsement, you would not have any coverage for this type of loss. Scheduled Personal Property: Provides for specified coverage for certain special items. You can schedule a wedding ring on a policy for a specific amount, such as $1,000. If that ring were to be lost or stolen, it would then be covered without any deductible. If the ring was not scheduled, then it would only be covered if it were stolen from your home, and your deductible would apply, as would any policy limits for jewelry. Scheduling an item increases coverage to include losing or misplacing the item as well. Items that can be scheduled include jewelry, furs, firearms, silverware, antiques, computers, cellular phones, fine arts, collectibles, and more. This information is general and is meant to be advisory only, and should not be relied upon for any insurance decisions. Please refer to your own insurance policy and company provisions for exact definitions and limits of coverages set forth in your policy contract. |
